The Remote Archivist #7:

The Curatorial Programme

2024-2025

The Remote Archivist is a recurring publication from the Archive of de Appel that can also be accessed while the reader is physically distant, or the archive is far away. The distance, and at the same time the fickle proximity of digital platforms is now translated into the tangibility of archivistic messages.

Katia Krupennikova (participant Curatorial Programma 2011/2012) spent the autumn of 2024 in the Curatorial Programme archive 1994-2023 with a group of artists/researchers from the second year of the HKU Master of Arts in Utrecht. A joint, yet personal manifesto was compiled from their archive findings that can be a charter for everyone to be – like the projects from the history of the Curatorial Programme – urgent, insightful, compelling, critical, playful and persistently contemporary.

On May 22, 2025, as part of the project results presentation, we held a launch event together. Filled with artist talks, discussions, poetry readings, and performances, the evening will be devoted to archives and archiving, featuring and reflecting selected traces of de Appel Curatorial Programme. Participating in the programme will be Fleur Carlier, Nell Donkers, Hannah Fleishman, Lara Khaldi, Sohrab Kashani, Katia Krupennikova, Changli Luo, Chen Ran, Zoë Sluijs, Isabel Veganzones Belmonte, Wang Xue Sophia, and others.
